The Pink Canary Is At The Editors

The Grand Canary

The Pink Canary is now at the Editors for the final go over. I have three editors who are working on this book. The first editor is checking for grammer. spelling, etc. You know all the little things that we writers manage to screw up on a regular basis. The second and third editors are making sure that my venture into the Drag Queen world is spot on with the correct language and naunces that they use.

This little book has been a challenge. The reason is simple. I have never traveled this path before. When I started it, I like most people knew only the surface of the world of Drag Queens. Like everything else I do, I did my homework. I researched everything I could from body language to makeup to dialouge to culture. Yes, boys and girls, they do have their own culture. I met some amazing people along the way one in particular is Vicky Lane. She performed for over 40 years in New York and Canada. She has become not only a window into the Drag Queen world but a wonderful friend.

My friend Peter who along with Vicky have become characters in the book. If you have never been to Key West, (one of my favorite places in the world) you need to go at least once in your life. The atmosphere is charged with an electricity like no other. The people are laid back and most are artist of some sort. This is where the story is set.

If you have never been to a Drag Queen show, you have no idea what you are missing. Drag Queens have been around since the beginning of time. As the years have flown by they have perfected their craft. Most of them are quite good. They spend hours designing and making their clothes, they have impecable taste and they are some of the funniest creatures I know. Their sense of humor is to die for.

In fact in  The Pink Canary bodies are piling up like cordwood. I should have put a disclaimer in this book that I am not responsible for wet clothing as you read it.

The Pink Canary is yet anothe comedy (yes I can write comedy) that came to me quite by accident. My friend was typing on her phone that she had seen a pink camaro and it typed out Pink Canary. When I heard  that I knew there was a story. But it had to be funny. You see the two main characters a New York Detective and Lola have a history. So when they meet (after several years of not seeing each other ) over yet another dead body, the old chemistry sparks. The back and forth dialouge between these two characters and the other secondary characters keeps one turnig the page. Things are not always as they seem as it is in the world of Drag.

Bodies pile up, personalities clash, and humor runs amuck. This is a book for anyone and everyone.
