The Christmas Present Quandry

Every year there is someone on your Christmas list that you have no clue what to buy them. Every year you wonder through the stores, the mail order catalogs and the online stores scratching your head and mumbling to yourself wondering what you are going to get the person who has everything. Well, this year, fear not, your problem is solved. This is the year books are vogue. This is the year that books can be read on some many devices. This is year you can be a hero.
There are so many indie authors out there who have books just begging to be read, wonderful authors who write everything from inspiration to romance, to murder mystery to vampires to you name it – it is out there.
With so many of our favorite traditional authors dying off isn’t it time to try something new? Isn’t it time to try and indie author.
For those of you who have no clue what an Indie author is – indulge me a moment of your time. We are those authors who have chosen to publish and market our own work. We are those authors who are tired of being rejected by traditional agents and publishers who think our voice is not good enough. We are those authors who believe that what we have to offer is just as good if not better. We are not hampered by conditions set by traditional publishers. We don’t have to sell our soul in order to be published. WE have control of our book, our cover and our marketing. We can do what we want to – go to any event we want to and sign what we want to. We don’t have our books slashed to pieces by some unknown entity just because they want a certain word count. We write what we want to when we want to. We don’t have to mass produce dribble just because of a contract. We can take our time and produce quality work and a great story.
So that being said, back to Christmas. You don’t have to leave the comfort of your home. You can order our books from places like, Lulu.com, amazon.com, Barnes and noble and yes even nookbook and amazon kindle. Some of us even have our own online bookstores, such as http://thebookattic.ecrater.com
We can be found on facebook and other places. All you have to do is contact us and we are more than happy to respond. We don’t respond through an agent or other entity. When you hear from us it is real. If you want the book personally autographed to a loved one we do that to.
I am working on gift certificates so that your purchases can be made easier. I take credit cards at all my events.
We are the up and coming thing in books. Give us a try, I know you will like us. Check out http://yvonnemason.wordpress.com you will see many book reviews – these books are all written by indie authors.
Give something different for Christmas this year- give a book by an indie author.
Support free enterprise.

Places to Find All of My Books

The Last Rites

This is the latest release

As an Indie author, that is one who is not published by a vanity press or a traditional publisher, none of my books are sold in what we call box stores. That is brick and mortor stores. The reason is they buy all of their books from Lightening source or Baker and Taylor on consignment. They shelve the books for 30 days then pack them all up and send them back to the distributor. The author is paid in advance the royality for that sale. When the books go back the author is charged back that royality and has to give the money back.
As an independant author I have no distributor. I am the distributor as well as the marketing and PR person. I control my destiny. So all of my books are sold online. Which is not a bad thing. They are best sellers.
For those of you who have been reading my books for years you know where to find them. But for all of you newbies, there are so many places to find my books.
You cand find them at Lulu.com both as a paperback and download on Amazon.com as well as Amazon Kindle. You can also now find them on Barnes and Noble Nook Book. Yes, boys and girls they are available on Nook. All of my books can be read on any electronic equipment you have from iphone to ipad to computer to kindle and nook. Unlike many authors I believe the reader should be in control of how he wants to read his book.
The best part of being an independent author is that if you the reader want a signed copy you don’t have to wait until I have a signing. You can order one anytime you want to at my online bookstore at http://thebookattic.ecrater.com When you order your book, you receive a thank you note as well as other goodies. It is just my way of saying thank you for being a reader.
Subscribe to my blog because it is a way of staying up dated on my latest news and appearances.
I have just released my second true crime novel and am currently working on two new books. One I am co-aurthoring with my friend and fellow author Andrea Dean Van Scoyoc it is the second in the Harrington and Morgan Series.
I am also working on another historical novel. This one is about Jean Laffite one of the last Pirates. The history is real the story is fiction. I am including a bit of a twist simply because it makes it more fun.
Think Voodoo Queen.
So subscribe and enjoy the ride.

A Reader Now Gives The Girls A Voice

Silent Scream a True Crime Novel by Best Selling Florida Author Yvonne Mason

I received the email below in my in box this morning. It was from someone who I don’t know, he had bought Silent Scream. When he finished it he had changed his mind about many things. The one thing that struck me was the fact that he had a new repsect for Barbara Ann Wilcox and Collette Goodenough who were murdered at C24 Canal now known at Oak Hammock Park. He now respect their final horrible resting place, he understands they didnt’ die easy and he now has empathy for the way they were brutally murdered. They now have another voice because of Peter. He will never forget them and he will tell others about them. This was the purpose for the book – so that the girls would never be forgotten again and so that their final resting places would be honored. Thank you Peter for doing  that.

Peter fundora said:
Just read your book(silent screams) and I’ve never been so moved by a book.
I bought it because my brother lives in PSL and told me about Devil tree.
I wanted to know more about true case(I’m ashamed of the way I acted at crime scene.I treated as a joke)
before I knew whole story. The world should read your book.I cried for those girls and their families.
Thank you for giving them a voice.I’m going to visit brother next week,I’m gonna put flowers by tree.
Do you know how the Girls that survied are doing?

Silent Scream a video excerpt

Silent Scream

Lulu.com is pleased to announce the release of local Florida Author Yvonne Mason’s true crime book Silent Scream.  In 1972 Martin County Deputy Gerard Schaefer was arrested for the aggravated assault of two young women by the name of Nancy Trotter and Pamela Wells.  They were the lucky ones. They got away.

April 1,1973 the bodies of two more young women named . Georgia Jessup and Susan Place were found on South Hutchinson Island. They had been there for several months. The police investigation which ensued led the authorities back to Gerard Schaefer who was by this time serving six months for aggravated assault on Nancy Trotter and Susan Wells.

The firestorm and the evidence uncovered in the investigation led authorities to believe that Ex-Martin County Deputy Sheriff Gerard Schaefer had killed more than just these four young women.  Evidence gathered during a search at his mother’s home revealed at least nine and as many as possibly thirty four over a span of six years beginning in 1966 and continuing until 1972.

Until this crime Florida had never experienced anything like what is now known as serial killings. Gerard Schaefer was considered the first perpetrator of this type of crime.

Ms. Mason’s Silent Scream gives the victims a voice – a voice which has been silent for over 30 years. Some of the young women were never found, some cases were never closed and there were never any bodies to bury.

Gerard Schaefer took their voice away when he bound, gagged, hung , tortured, and buried  their bodies in remote areas. He killed in pairs so one could watch while the other was destroyed.

This is their story, this is their voice and with this voice comes the peace they have never had.

Ms. Mason, reminds us that at any time and any place we can become a victim.

Her book Silent Scream is available at lulu.com, http: //thebookattic,ecrater.com and soon to be on Amazon.com and other fine bookstores.

She can be reached at ysam51@yahoo.com and her website is http://www.myspace.com/yvonnemason
